Who I Be
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
If we were sitting at a local café, having coffee and getting to know one another, here’s what I’d likely say to tell you about myself.
I’m passionate about connecting.
What that means: I’m endlessly fascinated by what it looks and feels like to:
- Connect with ourselves, Spirit (however you know It), and one another
- Live authentically, with ever deepening self-knowledge/compassion/acceptance/love
- Explore and shift the patterns in our perceptions, thoughts, and emotions that shape our beliefs and experiences
- Communicate effectively, and how that contributes to meaningful, lasting relationships
- Just be, and to do without feeling like a human doing rather than a human being
These concepts aren’t mere intellectual curiosities for me. I live this way — full out, every day — in all its wondrous and sometimes messy glory.
How I Got Here
Do you ever feel like you just aren’t doing what you are meant to be doing?
I spent a lot of time feeling that way. After graduating from college I went into publishing, writing and editing for magazines, large corporations, and a host of other businesses. I learned a lot, got good at what I did, and added value for employers and clients.
Ten years went by. And then 20.
Although I enjoyed some aspects of the work, deep down it felt like something significant was missing. And I couldn’t escape the nagging sense that, if I didn’t consciously do something different, I’d spend the rest of my days settling for far less than what life could offer.
I wanted to feel happy. Fulfilled. On purpose. And to be of service to the world in meaningful ways.
But what did that look like? And feel like?
I didn’t know. Not fully. What I had were pieces, glimpses, nudges, and senses that got clearer over time. And a whole lot of life showing up as what I thought I wanted but didn’t really want, which helped me realize what I did really want.
Being and Doing — Now
It’s been a beautiful, painful, glorious, and trippy unfolding. If I had to guess, I’d say that life probably has been much the same for you, in your own unique way.
Being able to share this journey with you is truly a joy beyond measure. So, whether you choose to read the Being and Doing Now blog, listen to a podcast, or reach out for coaching, I hope you feel supported, uplifted, and encouraged to be the incomparable You that you were created to be. And I hope you find threads that help lead you to what makes you feel alive.
In the words of Howard Thurman:
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
While you’re here, grab a cup of something yummy, relax a bit, and let’s spend some time together. I’d love to hear more about what the journey has looked and felt like for you.
